These tired eyes have seen and burned
Through words and numbers and lines
They were only able to comprehend
In smudges of dancing, senseless strokes.
They’ve seen sunny days in monochrome
And sometimes monochrome in mirrors
When they see circles under their borders,
Battle scars from wars against sleep and tears.
But they’ve also seen things far brighter
Than blue light from laptop screens:
Kaleidoscopic visions of sunny days
And hopes of rosy, euphoric tomorrows.
So, no matter if these tired eyes blink,
Slumber, or weep; they shall hold open, if it
Meant seeing the heralds of their dreams
Come to life.
