G12 ISAers Complete 2-Week Work Immersion

Beyond the Classroom: Grade 12 Learners’ Journey to the Real World
By Samantha Averia and Mary Castro

Grade 12 learners embarked on a two-week work immersion/field experience on November 6-14, 2025, representing a new generation of learners stepping confidently into the professional world. After months of anticipation, learners were assigned to different workplaces across Iloilo City, ranging from laboratories and clinics to law offices and banks, each offering a unique environment for exploration and learning.

In Statlab, learners observed how blood samples are processed, learned about the machines used for testing, and even witnessed a case with unusually high platelet levels. In radiology, they called patients’ names, assisted elderly patients, observed ultrasounds as doctors explained and measured organs, visited the X-ray room where they practiced patient positioning and operated the machine under supervision, and watched ECG procedures to understand how heart activity is monitored.

Demiclab offered learners a structured workplace where they rotated through the laboratory, radiology, and psychology departments, observing testing procedures, operating machines, examining samples, and handling paperwork. They also experienced taking personality and IQ-style tests and assisted with clerical tasks.

Go Rehab welcomed the learners with a light-filled atmosphere that emphasized respect, teaching them to greet not only the dedicated staff but, most importantly, the patients themselves. Each patient brought a unique story, which taught them openness, patience, and encouragement. Hands-on experience with advanced equipment like electrical stimulation and cryotherapy devices has made their immersive and educational journey rarely matched elsewhere. The learners described it as a memorable experience, filled with compassion, working alongside some of the kindest workers and patient souls.

At the Treñas Law Office, they observed client consultations, assisted with documentation preparation, and participated in hands-on experiences such as scanning and notarizing documents as the staff entrusted the learners with tasks that made them feel genuinely helpful and involved.

Avescor Motors allowed the learners to observe firsthand the meticulous process of vehicle maintenance and parts replacement. They had the opportunity to closely examine the cars. They also explored the sales process, learning how cars are marketed and sold, and the important paperwork that completes each sale. Throughout their immersion, the staff were friendly and professional, making the experience engaging for the learners.

The First Imperial Business Bank was lively, with many employees working closely together to manage the steady flow of daily banking operations. The learners initially assisted at the front desk, handling simple clerical tasks such as cutting papers and checking files while learning how even small administrative duties support the smooth functioning of a financial institution.

As they handcrafted and rolled bread at JD Bakeshop, they experienced firsthand the delicate care required in handling pastries. When working with a variety of cakes, they applied coating techniques, discovering that even simple tasks like packing involve specific skills and attention to detail.

Throughout their immersion/field experience, each workplace provided its own lessons, tasks, and moments of discovery. This experience allowed them to witness the rhythm of professional life, understand the value of teamwork, and appreciate the discipline required for every field. On behalf of ISA, the learners would like to express their deepest gratitude to Statlab, Demiclab, Go Rehab Iloilo, Treñas Law Office, First Imperial Business Bank, and JD Bakeshop for opening their doors, sharing their expertise, and providing meaningful hands-on experiences to the Grade 12 ISAers throughout their two-week immersion.
