After the rigorous process of writing, collecting and interpreting data, 23 Grade 12 learners successfully defended their research papers, one of the major requisites for graduation. Out of the 23 researches, 10 papers were qualified for the 3rd Research Forum, an annual curricular activity of the ISA SHS Division, held online via Zoom on April 15, 2021, where the finalists competed for the Best in Research Awards.

Esteemed professor, Dr. Rejie F. Palmos, a registered Guidance Counselor, Director of the Center for Peace Education of WVSU, and a Metrobank Most Outstanding Teacher Awardee was the chief judge of the competition. The two other panelists were Rodgen M. Jabor,  the ISA research facilitator, SHS Division Head, and a Ph.D. in Education Candidate of WVSU Main Campus, and Ronella Gestopa who holds a masters degree in Physical Science, and the Head of ISA Science Division, Elementary Level.

Five learners were recognized Researchers of the Year and were awarded gold medals, namely: Renz Ghester Ang, John Wallace Chan, Joelian Marie Dolendo, Jamie Lynn Lim and Christine Joy Wingkee. Meanwhile the other five finalists, Christine Faith Chang, Jarlynn Margaux Ching, Audrey Marie Jamboy, Annie Mae Ong, and Vincent Villanueva, received silver medals.

Research, which is done individually, is one of the ISA SHS flagship programs which aims to equip ISA learners with the 21st Century Skills. At a very young age, they have the opportunity to contribute to the existing body of knowledge which is a source of invention and innovation in today’s post industrial society.
