New Normal: Life After the Pandemic

By Cosette Sasha Patrimonio (Grade 8 – Bonifacio)

2020 was a tough year for everyone. Most of us were looking forward to 2020 but it all changed when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Many of our loved ones died, many lost jobs, homes, families, and many more. This has affected not only people, but also jobs, businesses, the economy, and the government. People’s lifestyles have changed because of staying at home for too long and not seeing each other. After this pandemic, our world will completely change.

First, the economy will change right after this pandemic. Since many people have lost their jobs, they have no money to spend on their needs. People have used up most, or even all of their savings. Businesses that closed made no income. If they will reopen, they will most likely make their products a little more expensive to compensate for the income lost. It will be even harder to earn money since jobs can give them low salary to save money. It will be hard to find jobs again, and some businesses were affected so badly that are permanently closed. I hope that many jobs will open so that people can provide for their families their needs.

Second, people’s habits developed during this pandemic will stay. This pandemic has taught us a lot of things. COVID-19 can infect anyone, even healthy people. People have learned to keep themselves safe by eating healthy, exercising, having proper hygiene and etc. Since we have been seeing with other people via online communication platforms, we will continue to use them since they’re as effective as meeting face to face and it’s safer. We realized that we can do a lot of things from home using technology and the internet and it will change our world.

Lastly, I believe that after this pandemic, we can slowly get back to normal. From our severely affected economy, health, government, and everything else negatively affected by COVID-19 pandemic, we can fix it. We have to start from the beginning and slowly make progress to recover. Many cities were rapidly developing, getting more high-tech and better, but when the pandemic hit, the development stopped. If we do our best to stop this pandemic, then we can get back to normal. No matter how difficult this pandemic is, we can make slow recovery.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone’s lives. From our businesses and economy, to our habits, and lifestyles, it is not the same anymore unlike before. If we look at the positive side of things, we still have hope for slow recovery. We shouldn’t rush things, but instead take it slowly and carefully to avoid problems. As long as we work together with peace and cooperation, we can go back to our everyday lives.
