Seizing the Chance and Climbing Up to the Top

by Francesca Ean Tiu (Grade 9 – Mendeleev)

There are often moments in life that make you feel like the weight of everything is dragging you down. You try your best to reach out and hold on, but sometimes your best isn’t enough and you come crashing back down to the ground. It’s not a good feeling to be left lying on the floor while everyone else seems to be miles and miles ahead of you, but sometimes it’s a feeling that happens to the best of us.

Sometimes we need to fall down in order to get back up. We need to lose everything in order to realize that we once had everything. Moments like these – moments that sometimes make us feel downcasted, beaten, or worthless – are moments that ignite the flickering spark kept burning in our hearts.

It doesn’t matter that you have scars etched into your hands, or an aching pain surging through you. Filled with determination, you get back up and you try again. Reach out, hold on, and find a way to pull yourself up. But even if that doesn’t work, it’s also okay, because we’re always given a chance to try again no matter how many times we stumble and falter.

Never be afraid to take that chance.
